Rev. Charles Cheek, Chairman of H.E.L.P Executive Board., will receive the “MLK The Drum Major for Justice” Award on Monday January 16, 2012 at 7:00 pm in Ogden Hall, Hampton University, Hampton, VA
Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 7 pm. Church, 110 E. Queen Street, (Downtown Hampton), Hampton, VA will be performing a benefit concert for H.E.L.P., Inc. A love offering will be collected.
There will be a H.E.L.P. Volunteer Orientation on December 8, 2011
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church’s H.E.L.P. Variety Show is presented as a benefit program for the support of H.E.L.P., an organization that is dedicated to serving the poor and homeless in our neighborhoods. A free-will offering will be taken for their support. Those who wish to bring canned foods may also make that type of donation. Your gifts will be greatly appreciated by those in need who are less fortunate.
We have 21 acts that include Broadway music, comedy routines, classical piano music, and the completely ridiculous. The curtain will rise on our show at 7:00 PM.

H.E.L.P. held its 1st annual walkathon and it was very successful. See the Results
You may remember last year’s H.E.L.P. (Hampton Roads Ecumenical Lodgings and Provisions) Variety Show that came to life in the nave of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Hampton. We had a great time and raised about $1,500 for H.E.L.P. This year on October 22, we will produce the second edition of our Variety Show. The program will begin at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free; however, a free-will offering will be taken for the sole purpose of benefiting H.E.L.P. FLYER
|Because H.E.L.P. is a city-wide service organization, we will seek participants from other supporting congregations for H.E.L.P. Whatever talent you have, we will utilize: Solo Voice, Vocal Ensemble, Instrumental Solo or Ensemble, Classical, Pop, Folk, Traditional and Non-Traditional. Don’t miss this opportunity to have fun and develop community. While having fun we will be able to serve those in dire need in our Home Town, Hampton.

Chip Lomax, again, will again lead us through the evening as master of ceremonies. Mike Riley will serve as our stage crew leader. We are looking for additional helpers for Mike and need a sound technician, and other helpers. If you need assistance in determining an act, call Dr. Sunderland or Laura Ann Madott. They will gladly lead you to your calling.
Hampton Roads Ecumenical Lodgings and Provisions (H.E.L.P.) will be on Community Lane and also hosting a Food Tent on the lawn of Hampton Baptist Church (across from old Courthouse). We will have Chick-fil-a Sandwich combos as well as homemade chocolate chip cookies and hotdog combo meals. All proceeds support H.E.L.P. and the HBC Soup Kitchen.
