Executive Committee

Executive Committee members are:  Rev. Charles E. Cheek, Chair, Mr. Gordon White, Vice-Chair, Ms. Jean Alberts, Treasurer and Mr. Robert R. Harper, Secretary. Three new board members were elected for a three year term and they are Mrs. Irene Ferrainolo, Mrs. Heather Herring Gauthier, and Dr. Joseph S. Johnson.  Mrs. Ferrainolo is a Health Educator Senior for the Hampton Health Department, she assisted with the Community Need Assessment Coalition Development, has extensive experience in budget/fiscal management, personnel, public speaking, special events and adult education.  Irene is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Buckroe.  She currently serves on both the H.E.L.P. Finance and Personnel Committees.  Mrs. Gauthier is Manager/Partnering Owner of Chili’s in Hampton.  Through her community service, Heather has supported H.E.L.P. House Family Shelter, Hampton Baptist Church Soup Kitchen and last years’ H.E.L.P. Golf Tournament.  This year, she is the Chair of the 14th Annual Richard Allen Hayes H.E.L.P. Memorial Golf Tournament and is currently serving on our Communication’s Committee.  Heather is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Dr. Joseph S. Johnson is a member of Antioch Baptist Church and is employed by the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Bureau of Law Enforcement.  Dr. Johnson worked this past shelter season with A Night’s Welcome and is currently serving as Chair of our Personnel Committee.  He has experience in budget/fiscal management, fundraising, business development and special events.  Together with his wife, Rev. Dr. Regina Johnson, they lead ManUp HelpMeet Ministries.    Mr. Thomas Silver was newly appointed to the H.E.L.P. Board to fill a vacated position.  Thomas is a native of North Carolina but has called Hampton home for a number of years. Thomas is serving on our Property Committee and has in-depth knowledge and  experience in lawn maintenance and home repairs.  Thomas has already been busy at H.E.L.P. House Family Shelter making necessary repairs.

 

H.E.L.P. Celebrates 29 Years of Service

2011 H.E.L.P. celebrated 29 years of service to our community. To commemorate the event, Immaculate Conception Church hosted our annual volunteer appreciation dinner and meeting. The event was well attended with an estimated 200 supporters participating. Each of our member congregations were recognized with the annual “role call” and representatives from each stood in support.

HELP Medical Clinic celebrated 10 years of service to those uninsured and underserved with an Open House celebration. the Clinic opened in partnership with the Hampton Health Department two night’s per week and has grown to five clinics per week and three dental clinics.
